Provide a secure habitat for your local wildlife! Built to last, this sturdy bird nesting box has been assembled by hand using rust proof decking screws and waterproof glue. This allows the house to withstand the elements while being mounted outdoors. Not only is this design durable, but it meets the specifications of a bird shelter from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. We have provided a correctly sized entry window, adequate floor and head space, an interior fledgling ladder, air vents, a door and latch to allow for a proper cleaning, and drainage holes. Tips: Nesting boxes can be installed on posts or poles in the water, but they must be at least three feet above the high water mark and be facing south or west. If installing on land, choose a site within 100 feet from the water with no branches blocking the entrance hole. We recommend using predator guards.

Color: Exterior has been finished with our very own special color decking stain, giving a weathered barn wood appearance. The stain is an acrylic product, which is therefore very wildlife friendly.
Care: Place four inches of wood shavings in box floor, clean out old nesting material and replace with fresh wood shavings after brood is complete.
Additional tip: Cavity-nesting ducks frequently lay eggs in the nests of other ducks which can lead to abandonment. This is called “brood parasitism”.To reduce likelihood, avoid cluttering next boxes together.
